Bodily Fluids

Bodily fluids are any fluids that can come out of the body. When thinking about bodily fluids think about the mouth, nose, and ears. After using the bathroom bodily fluids are flushed down the toilet. Bodily fluids are gross, yucky, ick, ew! Just writing about bodily fluids makes me want to wash my hands.

Ear wax, saliva, urine, mucous, vomit, blood, etc. The bodily fluid in bloodborne pathogens is blood. We do not need to know all of the bodily fluids.

Ear wax is not usually a fluid, but it is still potentially infectious material. Saliva comes from the mouth and mucus comes from the nose. Both mucus and saliva are bodily fluids. Vomit is the same as puke. When a person is sick to their stomach they might throw up. The vomit/puke is the bodily fluid and food from the stomach. If a person gets cut by a sharp object like a knife, scissors, or a razor the blood that comes out of the cut is bodily fluid. It is potentially infectious material.
