Restraints, Injections, Sterile Procedures

When a police officer arrests a person and puts handcuffs on their hands the handcuffs are used to restrain the person's hands. To restrain someone means to stop them from moving by putting on handcuffs or by using one's body to stop someone else from moving. PCA/CFSS workers are not police officers and have not been trained to restrain anyone. PCA/CFSS workers should not use force on anyone they are trying to support or help. Just remember PCA/CFSS workers never use restraints, perform injections, or perform sterile procedures.

In the picture below you see the man restraining the woman by putting his arm around her neck and closing his hands together. He is performing a restraint. PCA/CFSS workers do not perform restraints, injections, or sterile procedures.
