Goals

A goal is something that a person wants to do. Some goals are big and some goals are small. One can also talk about the goal of a game. For example, the goal of the game of soccer is to get the ball into the goal.

There are many games like this where each game has a goal. Look at the pictures to see what the goal is for each game. The goal in the game of basketball is to get the basketball to go through the hoop. The goal in golf is to get the ball in the hole out on the golf course. The goal of hockey is to get the hockey puck into the goal.

What do you see in this picture? If you said golfing that is correct. The goal in golf is to get the ball in the hole with as little swings as possible.

Goals are not just for games like golf or basketball. A person who is trying to get their citizenship, learn English, or any new language also has goals.

For example, the goal of lifting weights is to get the body into good shape. It is hard to lift something that is heavy because it weighs a lot. A person might set a goal to lift weights every Monday and Friday. If a person has a goal to lift 150 pounds, the person will have to start small at first. A person would lift 20 pounds, then 30 pounds, then 40 pounds, then 50 pounds, until they are able to lift 150 pounds. Once the person lifts 150 pounds, the person has reached their goal.

There are also goals for programs. For example, the citizenship program has a goal to help students become citizens. A program for teaching English has a goal of teaching students English.

The goal of PCA/CFSS is to support people and help people stay involved in the community.
