Work Environment
There are a lot of different types of work environments. The people a person works with and the places they work are all part of the work environment. The things we talk about, how we move our bodies, and how we treat others create our work and school environments. The environment is also how hot or cold it is. The temperature is one aspect of the environment.
A cashier works inside. The environment will be the temperature inside the store. If there is air conditioning it will be cool. A cashier has to talk to a lot of people and there is often a lot of noise inside stores. People are talking and it can be a very busy and stressful environment. A cart pusher is someone who works outside. They push the carts from outside to the inside. A cart pusher in the state of Minnesota will have to work when it is hot, cold, raining, or snowing. The work environment is difficult to work in. A cart pusher has to be careful so they do not push the carts into a car. A cart pusher wears PPE such as boots, gloves, and a reflective vest. The reflective vest helps reduce the risk of being hurt by a car. It increases the ability to see the person when it is dark outside. PPE or personal and protective equipment is worn to protect people from things in their environment which may hurt them. In this picture the person is wearing a white helmet to protect their head, a white mask to protect their nose and mouth, a pair of goggles over their eyes to protect their eyes, and an orange vest to increase their visibility to other people. A reflective safety vest helps make it easy to see a person who works in an environment where there are a lot of cars.
